Our client is a print and packaging manufacturer, who has been in the industry for over 30 years. Their Facility is in the GTA.

We are seeking an experienced Print Press Operator, who is a team player, strong communicator, is engaging, and will deliver results for our customers. This role will manage the efficient set up and operation of a 10-color flex press.

Responsibilities:

  • A Press Operator repairs, runs, and operates Sirio printing press (or similar) and oversees the entire production of printed materials from start to finish. Responsible for loading the press with paper and ink and adds any updates or repairs as needed.
  • Ensures that the daily production schedules are followed.
  • Ensures that all production reports are filled out.
  • Ensures that finished product is recorded and tagged correctly.
  • Ensures all finished products is packaged and labeled as per docket specifications.
  • Notifies the Supervisor of any quality, scheduling conflicts, production shortages, docket discrepancies, or other issues that may affect customer delivery dates.
  • Performs scheduled quality inspections, ensures that quality standards are always maintained.
  • Assists in the setup of printing presses to ensure optimal quality and efficiencies are met.
  • Signs off on all orders before starting production using production sign off checklist.
  • Ensures that safety standards are met and always maintained.
  • Ensures that all company policies and procedures are always followed.
  • Ensures adequate production supplies are available at press side for current orders being run.
  • Maintains training objectives using the training sign off sheet provided by the Supervisor.
  • Ensures all production equipment is maintained in a safe and good working order through effective use of Maintenance Work orders.
  • Ensures good housekeeping by following established procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in operating a Flexo Print press.
  • Machine Operators will have overall responsibility for the machine operation from set-up and manufacturing to maintenance and quality control.
  • Perform required maintenance and daily housekeeping on the press and surrounding area.
  • Work safely, abide by and promote established safety policies and procedures. Identify and follow-up on unsafe conditions.
  • Must have the ability to think through the mechanical aspects of press operations, problem solving and decision making.
  • Visually inspect end product to insure customer quality standards, and requirements are met.
    • li>Complete production paperwork, and data entry on PC in a timely manner. li>Maintain a clean and orderly work environment according to 5s principals. li>Troubleshoot equipment and product quality issues. li>Follow all GMP and department safety rules. li>Other tasks and duties as assigned. Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities. li>Starts and Monitors machine continually at all points.

Education, Experience and Credentials:

  • High School degree or equivalent and/or two or more years in central impression flexographic printing; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
