Our client is a print and packaging manufacturer, who has been in the industry for over 30 years. Their Facility is in the GTA.

We are seeking an experienced Print Press Operator, who is a team player, strong communicator, is engaging, and will deliver results for our customers. This role will manage the efficient set up and operation of a 10-color flex press.

Responsibilities:

  • A Press Operator repairs, runs, and operates Sirio printing press (or similar) and oversees the entire production of printed materials from start to finish. Responsible for loading the press with paper and ink and adds any updates or repairs as needed.
  • Ensures that the daily production schedules are followed.
  • Ensures that all production reports are filled out.
  • Ensures that finished product is recorded and tagged correctly.
  • Ensures all finished products is packaged and labeled as per docket specifications.
  • Notifies the Supervisor of any quality, scheduling conflicts, production shortages, docket discrepancies, or other issues that may affect customer delivery dates.
  • Performs scheduled quality inspections, ensures that quality standards are always maintained.
  • Assists in the setup of printing presses to ensure optimal quality and efficiencies are met.
  • Signs off on all orders before starting production using production sign off checklist.
  • Ensures that safety standards are met and always maintained.
  • Ensures that all company policies and procedures are always followed.
  • Ensures adequate production supplies are available at press side for current orders being run.
  • Maintains training objectives using the training sign off sheet provided by the Supervisor.
  • Ensures all production equipment is maintained in a safe and good working order through effective use of Maintenance Work orders.
  • Ensures good housekeeping by following established procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in operating a Flexo Print press.
  • Machine Operators will have overall responsibility for the machine operation from set-up and manufacturing to maintenance and quality control.
  • Perform required maintenance and daily housekeeping on the press and surrounding area.
  • Work safely, abide by and promote established safety policies and procedures. Identify and follow-up on unsafe conditions.
  • Must have the ability to think through the mechanical aspects of press operations, problem solving and decision making.
  • Visually inspect end product to insure customer quality standards, and requirements are met.
  • Complete production paperwork, and data entry on PC in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment according to 5s principals.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and product quality issues.
  • Follow all GMP and department safety rules.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned. Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities.
  • Starts and Monitors machine continually at all points.

Education, Experience and Credentials


  • High School degree or equivalent and/or two or more years in central impression flexographic printing; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Must be able to work on afternoons.

We have an immediate opening at one of our clients, manufacturing laundry pods and detergent who is currently seeking a Filler/ Operator for their Hydroforma room in Concord, ON. area

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operates machine in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs quality checks as specified.
  • Starts and stops equipment to identify basic mechanical issues. Makes adjustments to machines, as required.
  • Ensures proper film and lot code information is logged accurately.
  • Ensures GMP procedures are followed.
  • Ensures the department is run to maximize quality and productivity.
  • Receive and review orders in a timely manner.
  • Focuses on customer expectations, prevent problems, and strives for continuous improvement in quality and productivity.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Understands and follows all S.O.P.’s.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with filling operation/HMI controls required.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills required.
  • Advanced aptitude to solve mechanical problems, a must.
  • Must be mechanically inclined, to perform minor machine corrections.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational and team-building skills with a progressive “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works well with others.

Safety Responsibilities:


  • Complies with all safety company policies as well as provincial and local regulations, with the support and guidance of Corporate SHEQ authorities.
  • Safety and MSDS training.
  • No loose jewelry, metal (i.e. knives), glass at machines.
  • No loose clothing.
  • Ensures all equipment is in an acceptably maintained condition.
  • Proper PPE to be worn at all times.
  • Safety procedures to be followed at all times.
  • Work area must be kept clean at all times.
